My Journey is on Hold

I started my journey from Bluff to Cape Reinga and back on the 1st November 2009. My goal is to become the first person in the world to travel the journey by calling on every business along SH1 and picking up their business cards and loading them on to the internet. Each card is loaded onto an online phone directory in each of the main cities or towns. So far we have 6 online phone books Invercargill, Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Ashburton and Christchurch. Each main business directory services the smaller towns and by the time I reach Cape Reinga I should have built one of the biggest New Zealand online business directories in the country.
The email address of each card is is filed into my address book looks like this

In order for me to find your address I need to know where your business is located so I can delete you

I have no idea how long it will take me to reach Cape Reinga but I not worried if it takes me 10 or 20years I am only 69 years of age so I have plenty of time. I am doing every thing myself because I refuse to employ people any more. The reason I wont employ people anymore is explained on my other blog. This also is the reason why I have had to put my journey on hold. Our family home is underthreat of being taken off us by a former employee. Most of my time these days is being spent defending ourselves from the jaws of the employment relations act. I am confident that I can save our home but it is going to take time for us to get our appointment with an employment court judge.

Day 1 – Good Morning All

Its 6.30 am on the 1st November 2009 and I’m excited. The reason I’m excited is that I am about to attempt another world record. The last world record I atempted was to become the first man ove 64 years of age to row 100,000 metres on an indoor rowing machine in a 9 hour day. 
I acheived that goal and I have a world record cerificate to prove it

This World Challenge is different because it involves a lot of driving and walking. I will be driving my motorcar from Bluff to North Cape and Back
but I will walking a great deal of the way. I will be walking into every business along SH1 and exchanging business cards. I will be taking lots of  photos of people and their places. Many of these will be going on the SH1 Businees Directories website or in our NZ Travellers Guide Book.

My journey this morning will take me from Timaru to the bottom of the South Island. I plan to leave home at 8 am and arrive in Dunedin for morning tea. My wife Margaret has a dear Aunty Doss  in Mosgiel. Although Aunty Dos  is in her 90′s she has a wicked sense of humour and I always enjoy her company. Besides that she has lots of delicious home made baking in her tins and she makes a very good brew.

I don’t know where I will be sleeping tonight or any other night for that matter it will depend where I can barter a bed  in return for some free publicity.
